ABOUT THIS SESSION:
Westfield Group uses business rules technology to edit, eligibility check, rate, and underwrite insurance policies. Since 2001, Westfield has implemented systems with automated business rules for Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, and Farm. Business rules technology has enabled quick, transparent implementation of business logic, and greatly reduced the need for regression testing when changes are made. What you will learn:
- How to uncover and document business rules to be automated.
- Constructs used to automate different types of business rules.
- Real-life — not theoretical — experiences, best practices, and benefits of using business rules.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER(s):
Paul Armborst has thirty years of experience in information technology, twenty-two of those working with the application of information technology to insurance. Since 2000, he has worked exclusively with business rules, leading the implementation of business rules for the business owners policy and the farm policy in Westfield Group’s WesCom™ Internet-based insurance policy processing system. In 2005 he was invited to participate as a BPM panelist at Gartner Group’s Financial Services Seminar. Believing that domain knowledge is important, Paul is also a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He recommends reading insurance coverage forms as a cure for insomnia.
