ABOUT THIS SESSION:
The primary objective of the Travelers Express effort is to increase profitability of new business policies by improving risk selection and policy pricing. Existing systems were unable to support these functions and could not provide the “best price for the best risks”. Rules were spread throughout legacy applications and resulted in only a small percentage of commercial policies qualifying for straight thru processing (“STP”). Business rules implemented via SOA immediately resulted in nearly 3x more policies qualifying for STP, ability to write more classes of business, and set the foundation for moving rule management to the Travelers business community. What you will learn:
- Actual case study with measurable ROI from the use of business rules.
- Pros and cons to an SOA approach with business rules.
- Thoughts toward moving to business rule management by the business.
